Application tips

Our job specification describes the skills and knowledge necessary to carry out the role successfully.  We shortlist and invite candidates for interview based on the information we receive in each application.

Tips

  • Read the job specification carefully
  • Consider how the information you send us addresses each area of the job specification.
  •  If you provide examples, make it clear what you did, how you did it and any tangible results you achieved.
  • Consider your skills gained from both inside and outside employment.
  •  Avoid general claims such as "I have the necessary skills" or "I am confident I can do the job well."
  • A better example might be "I have 5 years experience as a Finance Assistant. I have accurate numerical skills and experience of using Excel to deliver financial reports by month end deadlines."
