Nigel John, Production Shift Manager

Nigel John“The Rockwool process is always evolving and moving forward, which makes every day interesting.”

"There have been numerous highlights in my career since joining Rockwool in 1979.  From starting out as an Operator, I have been promoted to Process Controller, to Fabrication Foreman and finally to Shift Manager in 2005.”

“During 2007/8 I spent a year as part of a multi-skilled, international team of engineers and specialists.  We worked on the design and implementation of new production lines in France and Poland and our new state of the art production line at Bridgend.  This was undoubtedly the pinnacle of my career.  I worked alongside Rockwool colleagues in the UK and from all over Europe and was involved in laying the foundations for the future of Rockwool UK.”

“As a Shift Manager, I enjoy supporting people in their career development. I get real pleasure from seeing an individual progress and I believe that our Operators are some of the best in the Rockwool Group.”

“The approach at Rockwool is always to encourage people to develop as much as they can. Early on in my career I received management training, which taught me solid forward planning and people management skills. This helped to prepare me for the scale of the responsibility that I have now.”

“Some days may be demanding, but this is the most rewarding job I have ever had. It’s great that I can spend time both on the technical aspects of the production line and in helping people to learn new skills.”
