Fire

Fire can result in devastating effects on school buildings and contents, particularly as a result of arson. Toxic emissions and smoke generated from fires can impair the safe escape of occupants and seriously damage human health and the environment.

Rockwool insulation is made from volcanic rock with a melting point above 1,000°C. It is non-combustible and when installed in an appropriate construction can provide passive fire protection, preventing the spread or growth of a fire through walls, floors and cavities.

When exposed to typical fire conditions Rockwool insulation products produce insignificant levels of smoke and no burning droplets. They are classified as A1 under the Euroclass Reaction to Fire classification system.
