Sustainable savings

As an environmentally conscious company, Rockwool promotes the sustainable production and use of insulation and is committed to a continuous process of environmental improvement.

Our manufacturing process satisfies the highest environmental standards through the use of filters, pre-heaters, afterburners and other cleaning and collection systems. It is environmentally responsible and sustainable:

  • using Rockwool insulation can save over 100 times more primary energy and CO2 over its lifecycle than is generated by its production, transport and disposal at end of life
  • positive energy and CO2 balances can be achieved within a few months after installation
  • once installed, one year’s production of Rockwool insulation products are expected to save more than 200 million tonnes of CO2 during its lifetime
  • Rockwool is recyclable
  • Rockwool has recently opened a new £7 million recycling plant at our Bridgend factory to further expand our capacity to recycle stone wool. Go to www.rockwool.co.uk/recycleprocedure  for practical details
  • in accordance with WRAP ‘rules of thumb’ Rockwool products contain over 50% of recycled content*
