The role of Rockwool in meeting new standards

Under the Code for Sustainable Homes and BREEAM assessment methodology, credits may be awarded for using materials with a low environmental impact as assessed in BRE’s Green Guide to Specification.  The use of Rockwool insulation could contribute to achieving BREEAM credits in the following sections:

Health and wellbeing:  acoustic performance

Energy: reduction in CO2 emissions

Materials: material specification and insulation

Waste: construction site waste management

It should be noted that these represent a contribution and there will usually be other issues that need to be covered to be awarded those credits.  A qualified assessor should be consulted for advice.
