Introduction
As an environmentally conscious company, Rockwool promotes the sustainable production and use of insulation and is committed to a continuous process of environmental improvement.
Although Rockwool is a major international corporation, it is also a business that has at its core a strong sense of responsibility and obligation to the local communities it works with. This sense of responsibility started in the 1950s long before Corporate Social Responsibility became a widely developed concept and is pivotal to Rockwool's beliefs and the way it operates. In 1981 the Rockwool Foundation was formed: a not for profit organisation with the objective of supporting scientific, humanitarian, artistic or social goals, and contributing to the improvement of the environment and the general development of society. A majority shareholding has been transferred to the Foundation by the Kahler family, owners of Rockwool, ensuring that it is, and will remain, the largest single shareholder in the company - an enduring commitment to social responsibility.
