PITCHED ROOF SOLUTIONS
Pitched roofs

Utilisation of the pitched roof space ensures efficient space utilisation and can be used to create attractive living or working space.

Rockwool products may be used to provide effective thermal insulation of pitched roof spaces. Rockwool products easily fulfil and can exceed thermal requirements as required by building legislation, including The Approved Document L (England & Wales) and Part J (Scotland).

To comply with building regulations and as part of the design process, you may need to submit SAP calculations to Building Control. If you require more information on SAP 2005 we suggest you visit the BuildDesk website. BuildDesk produces the leading SAP 2005 software tool, BuildDesk Energy Design, together with training and consultancy. BuildDesk is a member of the Rockwool Group

Designers should consider the effect of potential disruption to occupancy during the day or night time due to road, rail or aircraft noise. The use of Rockwool products in addition to good design will provide significant sound reduction improvement to what essentially is a lightweight timber construction.

Thermally speaking, there are two basic categories of pitched roof design: Warm roofs and Cold roofs. A warm roof is one where the insulation is located above or above & between rafters. A cold pitched roof is where the insulation is placed either between the rafters only or at ceiling joist level. A cold roof may be ventilated or non ventilated.

Fire
Rockwool FirePro range offers fire prevention solutions for pitched roofs specifically for large cavity and fire barriers including service penetration seals.
