The SHIFT Awards are the sustainability awards for the housing sector, recognising outstanding sustainability projects and achievements in the housing sector. The Best Retrofit Project category looks for projects that have resulted in tangible improvements in environmental performance, resident health and wellbeing through strategic planning, effective project management and quality assurance.
This year, the ROCKWOOL project, Wilmcote House has made the shortlist for the Best Retrofit Project category.
Wilmcote House focusses on the regeneration of three council-owned 11 storey tower blocks in Portsmouth that are in need of energy efficiency improvements. The dilapidated and thermally inefficient buildings have been upgraded to improve their aesthetic appearance and thermal performance to meet the EnerPHit standard, the retrofit equivalent of Passivhaus. The installation of ROCKWOOL® products has significantly improved thermal comfort within the properties and substantially reduced fuel bills for the tenants.
The winners of the SHIFT Awards 2016 will be announced on the 24th November 2016 at the stunning Gibson Hall in London. For more information, visit www.sustainablehomes.co.uk/shift/shiftawards
