The intrepid pre-schoolers have gone on a Bear Hunt, seen Mouse trick the Gruffalo, and helped the Stick Man get back to his family tree!
Caroline Davies, Manager of Fingers and Thumbs Coity, says ‘Many of the children’s favourite stories have a woodland setting and so being in that environment helps their imaginations come alive. The children nominate their favourite books and we choose one to base each visit on. We seek out the characters from the book, talk about the story and play games like pooh sticks. The children love being outdoors whatever the weather and the Woodland for Learning Centre provides an ideal setting to make the stories come alive!’
The Woodland for Learning Centre is based on the ROCKWOOL site in Pencoed, Bridgend and is managed by a charitable trust with grant funding from ROCKWOOL. The Centre is available for use free of charge to educational groups and welcomes visitors from playgroups, nurseries, primary schools and secondary schools and more.
