Sealing for safety
A building design can look well protected from fire on paper, but even with the best will in the world there will be unexpected changes on site – particularly where service lines are concerned. Commonly installed once the fire rated walls, floors and ceilings are in situ, service lines create voids which must be remediated from a fire protection perspective to ensure that the building will perform as intended. Even the smallest of gaps created for services will compromise fire protection performance and pose a risk of fire spreading. ROCKWOOL has developed a range of stone wool solutions to reinstate the fire performance of compartment walls and floors after the installation of services. Stone wool products can either permanently or temporarily seal penetrations.
