Keeping the heat in – from the top down

It’s a well-known fact that heat rises. And given roofs form the highest part of the building envelope, they inevitably become a potential major source of heat loss. Regardless of building type, whether residential or commercial, effective insulation of the roof is crucial for ensuring Part L compliance - helping to reduce energy consumption.  When designing new developments, the insulation treatment of a roof should be considered holistically alongside the wall and ground floor specifications. From loft conversions and pitched roofs through to flat roofs (including metal deck profiles and timber joist construction), ROCKWOOL stone wool insulation will provide a highly effective acoustic, thermal and fire protection solution.

Installing insulation is important, as studies have shown that up to a quarter of the heat in a building can be lost through an uninsulated roof.
