ROCKWOOL Acoustic Calculator
Our Acoustic calculator provides contractors and specifiers with a simple and effective way of working out the acoustic performance of insulation installed on walls, floors and roofs.
The acoustic calculator enables users to determine the noise reduction levels that could be achieved when using ROCKWOOL insulation products. With over 2,100 acoustic calculations, each with their own BIM (Building Information Modelling) objects, this calculator allows users to download and include BIM objects in their designs quickly and easily.
Our acoustic calculator is an extension of the ROCKWOOL U-value calculator and complements the BIM solution finder. The calculator provides U-value results for the calculations, if applicable, as well as graphical representations of the construction.
“The free to use acoustic calculator provides our key audiences with the perfect tool for calculating acoustic performances of a building,” says Tim Vincent, Head of Technical at ROCKWOOL UK. “It allows users to download data sheets and all associated information for any chosen ROCKWOOL product. It incorporates a sliding scale method that shows the thicknesses of the insulation, directly reflecting the acoustic value achieved. These key features provide specifiers with the detailed technical information required for specifying ROCKWOOL products.”
The ROCKWOOL acoustic calculator covers the following constructions:
• Pitched roof – horizontal and rafter line
• Flat roof – metal, concrete and timber decks
• Masonry cavity – full-fill and partial-fill
• Timber frame – external wall, hybrid wall and cladding
• EWI – solid brick, block and metal frame
• Internal walls
• Ground floors – concrete, beam and block and timber
• Intermediate floors
